Updating Kyla Cole's sets

Postby shayfan on Sun Nov 01, 2009 2:47 pm

I'm taking up once again an idea that I posted back on the old private board, obviously without any luck.

Kyla Cole is one of my favorite models, and DD has a treasure trove of shoots with her. Kyla's Corner is exempt from DD's regular archive rotation policy, so her posted sets don't disappear after four years. Yay for that. But that causes a problem, too. The photos in Kyla's Corner are stuck at the old 1024x670 pixel size that was current in the olden days of DD, when pterodactyls darkened the skies. I'm guessing that the source film on all of these sets would support a bump up to 1600px if they were reworked today. The color balance in some of these older sets looks fine to me, but it could and definitely would be tweaked if these sets were subject to the normal aging and reposting policy.

So, my plea: J. Stephen, if you want to keep an immortal Kyla's Corner, fine and dandy, but every once in a while, work on a set and repost it at 1600 px, and rebalance it if you like. Purdy please with sugar on top. There has to be some way to get versions of Kyla's classic work with J. Stephen posted on the site and updated to DD's current standards of presentation.

Kyla fans, if you agree, please let DD know.

1600px? Hell, go for the full 3000px treatment if we're gonna do that. (If the old film has enough detail to support that, which it might not!) Sounds like a good idea to me!

In the olden days, on the old private board, this issue came up, and someone on staff (probably Todd) confirmed that something like 1600 px is a practical limit on blowing up images from the film archive and still looking presentable. Otherwise I'm sure we would have seen the poster-sized images in reposts of film sets long ago.
